A Program of Study (POS) consists of the modules (units) leading to the award or qualification that a student is enrolled in, per planning period (ie semester or year). A student can undertake one or more Modules as part of their Programme of Study. We identify a POS by its Code, Major, Status, Intake, Year and Semester. For example, students doing the first semester of a Bachelor of Social Science degree with a Human Services major would have the following POS-depending on their status

Course
Major
Status
Intake
Year

The POS will have a mixture of subjects that students must chose (Core Modules) and subjects are electives (Optional Modules).

When you are preparing your POS use Course Summary Sheets, or Student Handbook entries which accurately describe the units available to students.

The purpose of a POS is to avoid modules (units) clashing where required.

To create a POS:

  1. Open the timetabler menu and choose Programmes of Study

      The following window will appear

      Programs of study

  2. Enter the Name, Host Key, Department and Description of the POS.

  3. Select the compulsory units in the Core Modules Column and the elective units in the Optional Modules column (Note- We never use the Elective Modules column).

Only enter unique programs ie where students have different choices.

Remember

To select a list hold down the CTRL key and click on all of the items to be included in the list.

To de-select hold down the CTRL key and click on all of the items to be de-selected.
