[Print-friendly version]
An Activity is an event involving one or more resources. Lectures, tutorials,
seminars and so on are activities. activities can be created in a number of
ways. The most efficient method is to create activity templates. The Activity
Template enables you to define the types of teaching to be delivered for a particular
module. For instance, there may be a lecture, tutorials, a seminar, and practical
classes associated with the teaching of a module, giving rise to four different
activity templates.
When you are planning the teaching of a module, you know which types of classes
will be required. To determine how many classes of each type are required you
need actual or estimated student numbers.
To create activities in the Activity Template:
1. Open the Planner menu and select Activity Template.
2. Locate the module in the Module list.

3. Enter details about each activity as shown in the graphic above. You must
enter
- Name ( in the format Module code-activity, e.g. MGB002-Lec)
- Host Key (same as Name)
- Size (i.e. the class size for the activity)
- Suitability (Always select the campus and then any other appropriate suitability)
- Description (Full description e.g. Lecture, Tutorial, Seminar
)
- Department (Locate in drop down list)
- Duration (remember we use half hour time periods ie 2 hours = 4 time units)
Remember
Press CTRL-D after each new entry.
